History of District 310: 1968 to 1985
Our District is one of the Founding Members of Indian National Council of Inner Wheel Clubs in India and Sri Lanka which was in existence from 1968 to 1976 when Association of Inner Wheel Clubs in India & Sri Lanka was formed.
District 310 was inaugurated on 5th December 1968. Its first District Executive Committee consisted of Mrs. Meher Framjee (Founder District Chairman, IWC Agra), Mrs. Roshni Irani (District Secretary, Kanpur), Mrs. Usha Mathur (Treasurer, IWC Bareilly), Mrs. Sushil Baljee (District Editor, IWC Simla) and Mrs. Santosh Raman (District ISO, IWC Banaras).
Initially, our District consisted of clubs from Agra, Allahabad, Banaras, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Simla and Bareilly. IWC Banaras was formed in 1965; IWC Agra, Allahabad and Muzaffarnagar were formed in 1966; IWC Aligah, Bareilly and Simla were formed in 1967.
By the start of 1969-70, IWC Delhi, Delhi North, Ghaziabad, Mathura, Sonepat had joined our District.
On 1st July 1971, our District was bifurcated into District 310 and District 311. After bifurcation, Mrs. Sushil Baljee of IWC Simla was our District Chairman. Mrs. Padma Goel of IWC Meerut was District ISO then.
In 1971-72, our District consisted of IWC Chandigarh, Delhi Main, Delhi North, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar and Simla. Mrs. Mridula Kothiwal was President of IWC Moradabad then. Mrs. Kothiwal became our District Editor in 1974-75 and District Chairman in 1980-81.
In 1978, District 309 was carved out of our District. Thus, all the clubs of Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir; IWC Sri Ganganagar (Rajasthan), few clubs of Haryana and all the clubs of Delhi except Delhi Shahadra & Delhi North were affiliated with District 309. IWC Delhi North and Delhi Shahadra remained with us. Thus, with this new bifurcation, Mrs. Minna Kapur (IWC Delhi Main) became a member of District 309 and Mrs. Anita Agarwal (IWC Delhi North) became a member of our District 310. Both of them, in later years, became Presidents of IIW.
In 1983-84, (Late) Mrs. Kusum Rastogi of Moradabad became our District Chairman.
In 1985, our District was bifurcated into District 310, District 301 and District 308. Few clubs of District 309 were also merged into new District 301. Now, District 308 consisted of most of the clubs of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and IWCs Dehra Dun, Mussoorie, Roorkee and Saharanpur of Western U.P.. District 301 got all the clubs of Delhi; IWCs Ghaziabad, Hapur and Modinagar from Western U.P. and few IWCs of Haryana such as Faridabad, Rewari, Rohtak and Sonepat.
In 1985-86, our District Chairman was Dr. Madhuri Bhargava. Our District consisted of eleven clubs, namely, IWCs Amroha, Bulandshahr, Chandausi, Haldaur, Khurja, Meerut, Moradabad, Moradabad East, Muzaffarnagar, Najibabad and Sardhana.
During 1968 – 1985 period, our District Chairman were: Mrs. Meher Framjee (1968-70), Mrs. Usha Mathur (1970-71), (Late) Mrs. Sushil Baljee (1971-72), (Late) Mrs. Prem Mukhi Saxena (1972-73), Mrs. Manju Vaish (1973-74), (Late) Dr. Surendra Mohan (1974-75), Mrs. Leelawati Jaiswal (1975-76), Mrs. Chand Bhasin (1976-77), (Late) Mrs. Kanti Manohar (1977-78), Mrs. Krishna Sagar (1978-79), (Late) Mrs. Vimla Gupta (1979-80), Mrs. Mridula Kothiwal (1980-81), Mrs. Vimla Vidyarthi (1981-82), Mrs. Swarn Jai Kanwar (1982-83), (Late) Mrs. Kusum Rastogi (1983-84), Mrs. Sita Agarwal (1984-85). (Late) Kusum Rastogi was our District’s A.C. Member in 1984-85 and again in 1985-86.
